GROUP THERAPY – FIVE WEEKS
You don't have to choose
between grief and hope.
Holding Both is for anyone who's lived through something — illness, loss, a hard year — and is tired of being told to either move on or fall apart. No toxic positivity. No pretending you're fine.
This is for you if…
You've been told to "stay positive" more times than you can count.
You're not in crisis, but you're not okay either — and no one's given you language for the in-between.
You're tired of performing "fine" so other people don't have to feel uncomfortable.
You know exactly what you lost, even when no one else seems to.
5 SESSIONS
What’s inside
ALL SESSIONS WILL INCLUDE MEDITATIONS, JOURNAL PROMPTS, REFLECTION, OPTIONAL SHARING, AND EDUCATION
-
We’ll unpack the cultural pressure to “move on” after a loss and explore the concept of ambiguous grief–grief that is unrelated to death, yet still impacts us deeply.
-
We’ll use this time to witness what we lost through meditation, journalling, and sharing.
-
We’ll explore how grief impacts the brain and body–validating the exhaustion, pain, and illness that can arrive alongside our grief.
-
We’ll explore hope in this session and distinguish it from toxic positivity. We’ll notice what authentic hope may feel like for us.
-
We’ll use this time to focus on the future and integrate our learnings and discoveries from the previous sessions.
Guiding you.
I’m Lily, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and I’m honoured to be leading this five week group therapy program.
I’ve held both many times in my life. My own experiences with grief are the inspiration for this work.
I look forward to meeting you.

Questions about Holding Both
-
Group therapy is when one psychotherapist works with multiple clients simultaneously.
This group is what is called ‘psychoeducational group therapy’ where the primary focus is developing skills, with the interpersonal connection with others coming secondary.
In this group, you can expect meditations, discussion questions, journal prompts, and educational insights. -
Confidentiality is different in group therapy, as I cannot guarantee that information shared in the group will not be shared outside of it.
All participants will sign a consent form agreeing to keep information confidential and acknowledging the limits of confidentiality in this space. -
If you have extended benefits for psychotherapy, you can likely use them for group. You will receive an invoice each week that you can submit to your benefits provider.
I’d recommend reaching out to your benefits provider to confirm coverage. -
Only those living in Ontario and British Columbia can join this group as this is where Lily holds her licenses.
Current clients can apply to join and can explore what this may look like with Lily in the screening call.
-
You can share as much or as little as you would like. There is no expectation and you will not be called upon to share.
-
Nothing is required, however I’d recommend having a notebook and pen, your favourite beverage, and a comfy blanket. It’s also important to ensure you are in a private space where conversations cannot be overheard.
-
Ideally everyone who signs up can commit to being present for all five weeks. If something comes up that prevents you from joining, I can share resources that we used in session.
Sessions will not be recorded in an effort to create a sense of containment and privacy.
-
To ensure fit between your needs and what this group is offering, all participants will have a screening call with Lily before acceptance into the program.
To get this call scheduled, please fill out the contact form linked on this page and Lily will get in touch soon!
